subtractive plaster sculpture
This is my subtractive plaster sculpture, I didn't have any idea until i looked at the starting shape I poured my plaster into then I came up with the idea of a soda can. I didn't want to do a certain brand of soda because I felt like if it wasn't gonna be perfect then I shouldn't do it at all.

Formal Art Critique

Description
The painting is called American Gothic and was painted by Grant Wood in 1930. It is a portrait of a male and supposedly his female or lover and is a oil painting that was painted on a beaver board, and is placed in the institute of Chicago. In the painting the female seems to be disappointed or angry at the male for some unknown reason. The male in the painting is holding a pitchfork in his right hand and he seems concerned. The setting of the painting seems to be placed in a older time period. Their house or barn of some type in the background with cloudy skys and some small trees.
Analysis
The picture shows a middle-aged couple which I interpreted as a farmer with either his wife or daughter standing in front of their home, barn, or a wooden farmhouse that I'm guessing was built in the 1870s to the 1890s. The architectural style known as Carpenter (or American) Gothic. Little of the background is visible however, because the figures are so close to the viewer. He used his sister Nan (1899–1990) and Dr. Byron McKeeby (1867–1950) his dentist, as models for the couple, dressing them in traditional clothes.
Interpretation
I think the painting is just a portait of a man and his wife on their farm or in front of their house their facial expression might have a meaning to why they are where they are but the background might have something to do with their facial expression or why the man is holding a pitchfork but other than that I'm not sure what the meaning of this painting is.
Judgment
This picture is a very nice picture in my opinion, but if were to value it it wouldn't cost a lot. Lets say I was buying decorations for a house or something like that I probably wouldn't buy it no matter the price. If I were to price it though I feel it would be about 25 to 30 dollars. I'm not sure how much pictures usually cost, but I hope my price is reasonable.
